INTERVIEW : SKYND talks Chapter 2, true crime, Wacken Open Air and the paranormal

July 30, 2019

Industrial-tinged and true crime-inspired duo SKYND is the dark creative outlet and the alter ego of its lead singer, Skynd, and producer and multi-instrumentalist Father.

Last year, SKYND arrived on the scene with a debut EP featuring three songs and videos that nodded to infamous serial killers. Chapter 1 included "Elisa Lam," "Gary Heidnik," which features a cameo from Korn frontman and true crime aesthete Jonathan Davis, and "Richard Ramirez."

Since then the band have gone on to open for Rob Zombie and play a well received set at the massive Download Festival alongside rock and metal masters like Slipknot, Tool and Slayer.

The band are set to play at the legendary Wacken Open Air Festival in Germany this week and have just released their much anticipated follow up EP Chapter 2 to coincide.

In the lead up to the release of Chapter 2, Nev Pearce spoke to Skynd herself on the Everblack Podcast about the release, how they formed their alliance in Australia, her hunger for true crime inspiration and what the future holds for the duo.

Check it out HERE :

Along with the previously released single Jim Jones, Chapter 2 includes two additional disturbing tales of true crime.Tyler Hadley, who murdered his parents with a hammer and then held a house party in their home in 2011 and finally Katherine Knight,  who in 2001 was convicted of stabbing her partner to death, skinning him, putting his skin on a meat hook before cooking his head and parts of his body with the intention of feeding them to his children.
