INTERVIEW : Tony Campos from Static-X talks reunion tour, new album and more!

June 19, 2019

For many metal heads in the early 00's Static-X were a really big deal.
Their debut album Wisconsin Death Trip was genre defining and the bands leader and front man Wayne Static was a larger than life character who's gravity defying hair and signature vocal style helped separate them from everything else that was taking over the heavy music scene at the time.

The years following saw Static-X release six studio albums, soundtrack contributions and relentless touring, helping them solidify their mark in metal history and build a cult like following across the globe with many branding the bands logo tattooed on their bodies.

Sadly on November 1st 2014 Wayne Static passed away three days before what would have been his 49th birthday leaving fans, family and band mates in mourning and putting an end to Static-X for what seemed like forever.

Fast forward to 2019, original Bassist Tony Campos, drummer Ken Jay and guitarist Koichi Fukuda have reunited to pay tribute to late frontman Wayne Static and the album that kickstarted it all 'Wisconsin Death Trip' with a worldwide tour and new album 'Project Regeneration'.

In the lead up to their Australian visit, Nev Pearce spoke to Tony Campos for the Everblack Podcast about reuniting the band, their upcoming Australian tour and masked vocalist, the new album which features Wayne's vocals, his touring mates Dope and Wednesday 13 and his amazing career as a bass player for bands like Ministry, Fear Factory, Soulfly and Prong!
