INTERVIEW : Fiona Horne talks the final Def FX tour

June 12, 2019

Oz electro rock queen Fiona Horne has lived a life most dream about.

Not only has she rocked the world’s stages, inspired many through her books about life and witchcraft and hosted shows on mainstream television, Horne has achieved pretty much everything she has put her heart and mind to.

This has also seen her life take a new and exciting path as a commercial airplane pilot in the Caribbean, which leaves very little time to tour and record music.

This has left Horne no choice but to put away her microphone and make flying her sole focus but before hand will give her Aussie fans one last chance to experience her legendary band Def Fx live as well as see her at some selected spoken word events.

Nev Pearce Spoke to Fiona Horne for the Everblack Podcast about the final Def Fx tour, her amazing career, touring with The Smashing Pumpkins, her passion for flying and more!

Check it out HERE:

Aria nominated, Number One charting 90’s band, Def FX,are the voice of a generation of Oz rockers who emerged in the 90’swith a totally unique sound:heavy guitars, dance beats and flagrant sampling (before there were laws against it) –a sound that ultimately became Electronica. But Def FX defied labels, releasing four albums, multiple EP’s and singles and leaving critics scrambling to describe their rock, surf, dance, industrial, punk sound. The bottom line was that audiences couldn’t get enough of their slamming, crazy high-energy shows, with front woman, Fiona Horne, establishing herself as one of Australia’s most powerful female performers. Def FX’s seven year career saw them headline tours criss crossing Australia, USA and Japan non-stop-and sharing the stage with bands like The Smashing Pumpkins and No Doubt. Def FX also played the main stage every Big Day Out from 1991-1996.Reuniting in 2012 and again in 2013 for sold out local tours, which saw loyal frenetic fans bringing their teenage kids along into the mosh pit, proved that Def FX forged the best sound of the 90’s... and beyond
