Joakim Brodén from Sabaton talks Download Festival

December 24, 2017

Not long after news broke that Swedish power metal masters Sabaton would be heading back down under to play Australia’s first Download Festival in 2018, word quickly spread that Melbourne wouldn’t be the only ones to get the privilege of experiencing their live set, Brisbane and Sydney are set to erupt with not only Sabaton but also Amon Amarth taking the stage in what is sure to be one of the finest metal gigs of 2018.

Known for unique storytelling through their lyrics, making each song an epic masterpiece of frantic guitar work, intertwined with historical driven lyrics, the lads of Sabaton are eager to give their legion of fans the show that they have longed for since their last journey to our shores in 2013.

Nev Pearce spoke to front man Joakim Brodén for the Everblack Podcast about their much anticipated return to Australia, how he quit his day job to be a full time musician and Sabaton’s eighth studio album ‘The Last Stand’.
