In 1997, there were 3 things you needed for high school. Text books, pens and a exceptional knowledge of every single lyric of Grinspoon’s debut album ‘Guide To Better Living’. But leave the stationary at home, because tonight’s sold out show at The Tivoli only calls for one of these items.

Brisbane based trio Good Boy open tonight's proceedings. Their clean guitar and grooving bass lines provide the perfect set-up for what inevitably will follow. These lads certainly pack a punch t...

Brisbane born five piece Chronolyth are our only support for the nights show. Greeted with a roaring crowd, the boys don't hold back for one second throwing the crowd into a fit of pure brutality. This is my first time seeing and even hearing Chronolyth and man are these guys tight. Vocalist Hamish is a fantastic frontman with his dark and sinister stage presence, he leads some of the best musicians our local scene has to offer.

After only a short wait, DragonForce make their way on stage sendin...

Well, it looks like word gets around. 18 months after playing one of the most glorious rock shows The Tivoli had ever seen, The Darkness bring their glam rock revival and a litany of bad wardrobe choices back to Australia tonight to a much bigger crowd, tightly packed into the ground floor of the Eatons Hill Hotel (seriously, would it kill them to open up the balcony?). There is way too much leather and spandex in the crowd tonight, which is to say there wasn’t quite enough. It’s The Darkness a...

He Danced Ivy has the opening slot tonight for Protest The Hero. I honestly had not heard of these guys until tonight and as soon as I had my first chance I jumped onto the interwebs to search for them. These guys were fantastic and a great deal of fun to watch. The lead singer brings a refreshing energy to the stage and the songs fit perfect into a support slot for Protest The Hero.

Brisbanes very own local outfit A Breach Of Silence are second on the rank. A heavier more brutal support in comp...

Cog fans never expected the out of the blue tour announced early last year, their first in six years let alone a second tour. Tonight we are treated to just that, a brand new tour, brand new setlist and all in one of Brisbanes best venues, Eatons Hill Hotel.

The night kicks off with Brisbanes very own experimental two piece, Chief Weapons. The last time I was genuinely this impressed with a two piece was when I first heard Royal Blood. What makes these guys more impressive is that all of their...

Tonight is all about winding back the clock and Behind Crimson Eyes do a pretty good job of it playing their brand of post-hardcore emo tracks which are mostly firmly rooted in the mid 2000’s. The crowd is relatively small but building as the punters filter through the gates in drips and drabs but the band are armed with their game faces and an arsenal of very recognisable singles from years ago like Shakedown and The Bonesmen that are played flawlessly and with passion. I admire that. Fantasti...

Friday December 9 is one of two Brisbane dates that find Utah based rockers The Used at the end of their 15 year anniversary tour across Australia. Clocking in 12 shows in just under 3 weeks, showcasing their first two albums Selftitled and In Love and Death.

They're here to treat Australian fans to something very special. For two shows spanning over two nights per city, the boys will be playing through both albums, one each night. And tonight, we are here to see their 2004 hit album I...

7:15pm rolls on and while many people are still manning the bars and merch desks, there still seems to be a fairly packed out room at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre in time for In Hearts Wake to take the stage. They are by far the odd band out on the line up, but this is hardly noticeable with the crowd's reaction. There is a following in the crowd and they are made heard. For a band of youngsters from Byron, this is sure to be a nerve-wracking experience, but regardless, the band kicks in a...
