As any heavy music fan is aware, the ever so popular British rock outing known as Download Festival has finally hit Australian shores.

It is rare that so many bands of that caliber tour our country at once and while the festival has only just wrapped its first date in Melbourne we have been extremely lucky

some of these bands went on the road and carried out sideshows across the country.

Out of all the Download sideshows it was tonight’s Mastodon/Gojira gig that seemed to be the most anticipated...

The Coolangatta hotel on the southern side of the Gold Coast has seen quite a few quality acts pass through in its time, but it is a rare occasion that we get some true heavy hitters such as the legendary Suicidal Tendencies.

While this isn’t the first time the band have played the Cooly, we were lucky enough to have them play here back in 2011 and it was one of the most intense shows I have ever seen at the venue.
Going by the vibe in the room tonight, I think tonight’s sho...

With 15 years under their belt, UK’s premier progressive metal masters TesseracT are at the top of their game. And it couldn’t be more evident with the release of their fourth album, Sonder. The self-produced effort (even the artwork was handled in-house by bassist Amos Williams) comes seemingly hot on the heels of their most recent release, 2015’s Polaris, an album which many, including myself, are still processing.

At a casual listen this is paint-by-numbers TesseracT. The signature guitar...

My childhood was launched into the stratosphere the moment that The X-Files touched down in Australia. It helped an entire generation to question everything and to trust no one. For this review though, that's as much as i'm going to reference this iconic show. Tonight is all about David Duchovny and his stellar voice.

The opening act of tonight's show is Winterbourne. A humble folk duet from the Central Coast of NSW. These two lads have earned their spot to open for Duchovny across the country...

For almost 50 years Judas Priest have done countless tours and sold more than 50 million copies of their albums collectively making them one of the biggest names in metal.

After leaving the band in 1992 after the release of ‘Painkiller’ and triumphantly returning in 2005, Frontman Rob Halford has recorded several albums since with Priest but with the release of their 18th studio album ‘Firepower’ it really feels like Halford and the band have taken things to a new and exciting level.

Machine Head’s latest offering Catharsis has copped a lot of bad press around its release. But I'm here to tell you that all the critics are wrong. Catharsis is a solid album and requires the recognition that it rightly deserves. You want the opinion of a Machine Head fan? You got it.

The Californian metal stalwarts are solidly embedded in our hearts and heads with their signature harmonics and 'balls to the wall’ lyrics. Every song on their latest offering is not only a new offering, but a th...

When I was a young lad,Ugly Kid Joe we’re one of the bands that helped introduce me to heavier music. From the moment I saw the video to their single ‘Everything About You’ I was hooked. I immediately scrounged up the required funds as i had to get a copy of their album, ‘America’s Least Wanted’. Disappointingly I soon found out it was sold out at every store I went to.

25 years later the California rockers have hit the road to celebrate their most acclaimed release and giving fans the chance to...

Cog fans never expected the out of the blue tour announced early last year, their first in six years let alone a second tour. Tonight we are treated to just that, a brand new tour, brand new setlist and all in one of Brisbanes best venues, Eatons Hill Hotel.

The night kicks off with Brisbanes very own experimental two piece, Chief Weapons. The last time I was genuinely this impressed with a two piece was when I first heard Royal Blood. What makes these guys more impressive is that all of their...
