Butch Walker may not be a household name here in Australia, but many of the people he has written songs for and produced definitely are, having written songs for everyone from Avril Lavigne to Beyonce and run production for innumerable bands, Butch's influence spreads wide.

Butch's career stretches back to the mid 80's as the lead guitarist for glam band "Southgang" before moving into more pop rock territory with this band the Marvellous 3 (who released a number of albums before folding in th...

Two years ago I remember being sent a link to check out a new band featuring The Dillinger Escape Plan’s Greg Puciato, called ‘The Black Queen’. Being a fan of Greg’s previous work I was caught off guard by the direction of the band, but after listening to the album Fever Daydream, I soon became hooked on its synth-drenched melodies and Blade Runner-esque soundscapes.

Tonight’s show is the first of their sold out Australian tour in support of 2018’s Infinite Games. The setting is the Black Bea...

The old saying of ‘if its not broken, don't fix it’, must be a formula that Papa Roach follows closely. The California originated four piece has been bringing forth exactly what their fans want with each album released.  Who Do You Trust? is no exception to this whatsoever.

As the first track ‘The Ending’ fades in, its unsure what exactly we're in for. But as it launches in full steam, Jacoby Shaddix and crew are sounding better than ever. As the album progresses through each track, it seems lik...

It's that time of year again, when critics release their top 100 songs/albums/tours and give you a run down on why ‘Freshie Lil Zwan has the dopest beats of the year’.

But we at Everblack are simpler folk. So we asked each of our writers what really blew their hair back this year and this is what they came back with, a diverse and eclectic mix of bands and artists who went above and beyond their creative output and delivered some truly inspiring stuff that will no doubt still be in high rotati...

Living Colour are a really important band for a lot of people.

Not only have they written some of the most musically technical songs that have influenced generations of musicians to start playing, but also won the hearts of the average listener who have been moved by their catchy hooks, soulful thought provoking lyrics and heavy grooves.

Their 1988 debut album Vivid changed the game, spawning five hit singles including the smash Cult of Personality, catapulting the New Yorker's into the spotligh...

Australia’s summer festival scene took a massive blow a few years ago with the dissolution of Soundwave Festival and before that the Big Day Out festival, but lately things have been looking up for punters of the rock, punk and metal genres. You’ve got the Unify Festival growing in strength every year, UK’s epic Download Festival finally made its way to our shores this year and is expanding next year and now, seemingly out of nowhere, newcomer Good Things Festival is set to make its mark on the...

It’s been over 10 years since I saw Kamelot last at a show with Firewind at the Islington Accademy in London.
Kamelot were touring behind the “Ghost Opera” album and at the time were definitely at the top of their game. I must admit, I’d lost track of the band over the intervening years (aside from occasionally revisiting “The Black Halo” and “Ghost Opera”)  So 10 years later I have the opportunity to check them out again.

Kamelot is the brain child of Thomas Youngblood who is the sole original...

30 years is a hell of a long time for a band to be together without a line-up change. Against all odds Shihad are one of the very few bands who have stuck it out and survived through thick and thin. It’s no secret that I’m a big fan of these NZ-born Alt/metal rockers. I have proclaimed many times how important they were for my own musical journey since discovering them over 20 years ago.

There is Definitely a buzz in the air at The Triffid tonight and it feels more like a celebration, no...

It seems fitting that we are at The Triffid today, just across the street from where I first saw Fozzy on their first Australian tour at the Waterloo (yes kids the waterloo was once a fantastic live venue!) in 2005. I haven’t seen them since then and was very keen to see how they have evolved as a live band.

For those who aren’t aware Fozzy are fronted by the always energetic ball of good humour and muscle, WWE superstar Chris Jericho who along with his band made up of Stuck Mojo’s Rich Ward (g...

Steven Wilson is undeniably one of the greatest musical geniuses of our generation.
With a career spanning over 30 years he has taken progressive rock and experimental alternative music and introduced it to a whole new generation of listeners.

I have been a fan of his work for years starting with Porcupine Tree, but this is the first time seeing the man live and that is something I have had on my bucket list for a very long time.

With no opening support act, the show starts off with some dist...
